I think it is very likely that he splits his range on the flop, because he did bet. If you do not want to split your range on this flop, I am pretty sure you have to kill your betting-, not your checking range, because it is simply not possible for betting wide to be a good strategy against a good player.
Given that I think he bets flop with a somewhat well polarized range of like decent top pair +, most but not all draws and a bunch of backdoor type hands, it is true that he has a pretty strong range on this turn. I am not confident though, that that means his 60% betsize is a good play, because our middeling range on this board often has alot of equity against most of his turn bettingrange if he bets thinly.
