My thinking here was basically that the guy is likely tailoring his betsize to the strength of his range (an assumption because I don't know midstakes players' strategies) so in order to end up with a ramge that has to bet halfpot ott he'd have to do something else ott (which I thought was less likely because hero would have an easy time putting him in tough river spots if he check-called stuff like AJ here) or otf.
Thinking about it though, if he assumes hero is competent enough to make him not chc this turn, would he really chc the flop?
So I guess the better question would be if it makes sense to have a betting + and chc range on that flop given positions because for what it's worth I don't think so
